Got to LEMMA around 1:45 pm… a fellow by the name of Leo was in visiting from Korea… a brown belt in BJJ. I Guess he arranged to meet up with Keith to work on some technique. He mentioned he will be back in a few year and was leaving Monday.
Morgan was in to run the class. Travis, myself and Aria were in to partake… yep 28 degrees Celsius out. Don’t blame anyone for not showing lol…
Drilled a few takedowns to guard passes, with a same side lapel gilliotine…
We then worked on a few rounds of back control positional sparring with escape or submit then switch. 3 min rounds then alternated. Everyone worked with everyone.
Rolling: (5 min, Shark Tank)
1. Sat out
2. Morgan
3. Travis
4. Sat out
5. Travis
6. Morgan
7. Travis
Clips of us rolling below…
A few solid rounds… hard and technical with a great crew of advanced competition homies.

Didn’t feel like going in Friday mad tired…
Had to meet up with a few friends at the Marina for 6:30 pm for the Brew Ha…
Hot as hell… 37 degrees Celsius in the house.
Still went in to Openmat and got some training.
Rolled with only Morgan for a few 10 min rounds… we reviewed leg lock defences and choking stuff.
Us playing footsies below… I should have grabbed the other lapel to defend.
Heck… I still went in lol…

Wow the guys all rolled really hard tonight lol… #whitebelthard hahahah
Thought I was gonna roll nice and light tonight, oh well…
Right until you get a 200 lbs white belt how wants to smash pass you hahahah…
First time in a long time someone threw me in a head lock and tried to squeeze my head until it popped lol…
Don’t think they were too happy when I kept taking there back and threatened a choke…
Great practice of technique for me though, to repping out basic counters to basic human aggression at its fullest offence.
Even the mindless guard passing attempts with trying to run around my guard… like really.
Thought they would learn by now…
JOKE…
Rolling:(4 min, 1 min breaks)
1. Philippe
2. Josh
3. Steve
4. Travis
5. Katrina
6. Kyle
Interesting rolls tonight… got ample of opportunity to work my basic BJJ game of surviving with an assailant going 150 percent on top of me… heck even got the old school head lock and squeezing my head with all his might, grunting I might add lol… #whitebeltproblems lol
On a gooder note lol…
Rowing in the morning at level 6… with minor to decent results.

Had time to make a stash of one my favorite dishes kimchi…
Yes kimchi. Pear and honey used as a sweetener.
Hope to see you monkeys out Friday, Saturday and Sunday…
If your not too worn out from all that hard rolling lol.
Oss!

Lol…
Yep… rowing this morning at the Complex.
Level 5… next is 6… experimenting. Forgot to take a picture of the first round.
Got to LEMMA around 5:15 pm… Warm-up was pummeling for 5 to 10 mins.
Partnered with Jesse. Reviewed the over under, body lock takedown. Then the inside foot sweep when your opponent counters with an outside step. Matt got a newer guy to join our technical review… then another guy joined. Both greener then grass. Ouch lol… I slowly transitioned myself to work in with Travis and Nathen yes. The purple belt nerds.
Hey I got needs too lol… needy to learn more BJJ. Coaching is cool… but I attend these classes to learn. Hah!!
We then reviewed a gilliotine from the sprawl with a hook to sweep. After that we worked on the darce choke and then the Peruvian necktie… yes the neck tie, with my short ass legs lol.
Excellent class with review of submission techniques I only hit on very special occasions.
Big class… prime time. Wish these homies would man up… buy a GI and attend my classes. Need more bodies… for the training. Oh well… future bodies I guess. Once they figure out where their game needs to evolve.

Yep… rowing. Level 5… 500 m 4 sets… trying this out at level 5…
Ironically my warm-up round was the best lol 2:07 mins… I need to get this down lol. Next is level 6.
Great job today Rupert Klein, Justin St-Amand, Katrina Jones, & Brittany McNeice!
Choke is king!!!
While everyone else was out enjoying the beautiful Sunday morning… you guys were sweating OTM.
Drill, drill, drill… hahahah
Got them to warm-up with 2 min rounds each on arm bars, kimuras, hip bump sweeps to arm bar, knee slice pass to under hook arm bar, and then finally the toreando pass to back take bow chokes.
We then reviewed the bow choke, rolling bow choke, and then the x-collar choke from while your opponent is in turtle guard.
Rolling: (5 min rounds 45 sec breaks)
1. Sat out
2. Sat out
3. Katrina
4. Justin
Stretching: (10 min)

Got to LEMMA around 1:45 pm… only myself, Morgan, & Travis was in…
We warmed up with a bunch of 20 rep exercises, with shrimping, rolling, lunges and even planks. Yes, planks. LOL
We ended up reviewing a passing concept, a monkey stance standing guard breaking concept, a x-collar choke variant that I watched on an old Japanese black and white judo video, and then defending against a reverse scarf side control hold. Learnt a few things.
Clip of us reviewing a pass
Clip of us reviewing the guard breaking

Yeah, I got a few rounds in…
Went out for PHO with the wife afterwards to one of the few restaurants that serves it up here… no dice.
What BJJ has taught me… improvise, adapt, and overcome.
Had “bun thit” instead…

Got to LEMMA around 6:15 pm…
Finger was still mangled… what-eves.
Tape hahahah… sometimes you just gotta train a little injured. You never know when you have to actually fight.
Yep… got to the Complex this morning.
Morning conditioning… 4 sets, 10 min each… didn’t hit my 2.0 km mark but hey… 4th set was still the best.
6:30 pm BJJ was fantastic @leadingedgemma!
Takedowns and some shark tank drilling. My favorite… Iron sharpens iron.
Boy, was I ever gassed at the end.
All the heavy weights showed up tonight lol. O.o
I went for the takedowns…
I even had to fake guard pull then sweep…
Some guys were so hard to takedown… fighting tooth and nail, I even failed…
Drilling when your gas tank is empty reveals weakness… overcome an adapt!
See you OTM!!

Yep Nogi… got to LEMMA around 5:15 pm… Thorburn was running the show. Got us to pummel for a warm-up. I partnered with Philippe. He then got us to review a take down from the collar tie to a under-hook, then a counter with a side step the chin pick tricep grab pull down. The size differential made it a challenge, but it was nice to trouble shoot through the challenge.
I did manage to get Cardio in at the Complex… yep 4th set was the best. I need to make this consistent.
Thorburn then got us to review a knee slice-pass cut through pass, with a switch of the under-hooks. My guess next week is a step back pass to counter your opponent on the bottom if he fights the other under-hook.
Fan-freaking-tastic… a lot of work to do, takedowns and takedown defence is an area I need to work.
