Got to LEMMA around 8:30 am… got the following in prior to the homies showing up.
4x200m/2x1000m rowing, 4×10 box jumps, 4×25 push-ups, 8×4 tire flips, 40 sec head stands, sweeping/mopping, & some stretching… banged my shins on the box lol
Either way, we had a standard warm-up, some positional sweep drilling, reviewed taking the back from mount from the hook sweep, 5×5 min rounds of rolling, and then 10 mins of first to points. The guys and gals did well, some were a little competitive but eh… a little competition never hurt anyone.
Word… got to LEMMA around 5:30 pm on the Fri Feb 19th.

Ankle felt fantastic though… maybe it was just the ibuprofen hahhaahah.
5 min rounds, 1 with Kara, 2 with Philippe, and 3 non stop rounds with Jared…
Kara is new… very new, but fun to warm up with. Philippe on the other hand is a 220 lbs beast with an imposing top game, great control and a very much improving guard. Phew tough rounds. Then the roll with Jared. Only 15 years old, 190 lbs, and competes regularly compared to others. Kid kept me on my toes this night. Wow is he ever getting better… every time we roll his skill level just keeps accelerating. Just showing up, makes a difference. Had me thinking and moving throughout our whole jam session. Maybe I’m just getting old.
What can I say… the odds Sunday BJJ fell on a Valentines.

Yes I’m behind 11 days??… just gotta plug away when I can, just like Jiu-jitsu. Will be more behind after this weekend lol… hitting up Vegas with the wifey for our long overdue honeymoon.

Class was fun though… I actually took it easy on the homies today… been noticing guys really messing up side rolling. I see it every Sunday and during the week during our movement exercises.

Homies train everyday in the morning but can’t do a fundamental side roll, its like shrimping, helps with guard retention and escaping.

I use to suck at side rolling, heck!! rolled over my head.
Even found them a wonderful clip to help them improve while sitting at home watching TV… was hoping specific people showed up… that didn’t, that really suck at them and keep saying they can’t do it. Oh well can’t get them all.

Between being sick, injury, the sick baby, and work stuff… I have been keeping in lower on the attendance scale…

Added 2 of those damn 45 lbs cross fit plates for a box jump max lol. Repped 2 of them. Not even sure how thick they are… Will measure next time.

Warm-up with movement exercises with help from my homeboy Nathan Hatton. We then worked on open guard partner exercises, positional sweep drilling, reviewed the scissor sweep to mounted crossed collar choke, and then we rolled 5 rounds of 5 minute rounds.
Yep… on the rush lol, picked the little homie up, fed him quickly, wife got home then out the door.
Got to LEMMA round 5:00 pm… holy shoot. Tonnes of guys there doing things, from lifting, privates to working on the bag… wow. The heat was hilariously hot. Oh well good for me… bad for everyone else?
Got the little homie’s to follow me around with some running around the mat, side steps, outside/insides, then switching every 2 side steps. Had them bear crawl then a bunch of lunges around the mat.
Nathan and Marco came in to help out,and even Justin, which was fantastic lol… Marc had them do a few cool things as well as Nathan.
Either way its always great o help out with the kids BJJ… only wished I had more time.
Maybe one day I’ll have a club where I can have time to teach BJJ to kids.

Homies be like what what… got to LEMMA around 5:15 pm this day….
In my head I was like what was the point… wasn’t gonna roll anyway. Either way, I bought a new wrist support brace system from Shoppers… thought I was gonna roll. Popped ibuprofen before I headed to the gym, which was great… ibuprofen, helped out for the warm up and pretty much throughout the course of the night actually.

Mike ran the warm-up, with standard running around the mats, inside/outside karaoke, forward/reverse shrimps, forward/reverse rolling, bear crawls, and possibly others… I forget lol.
Thor then had us review lateral drop throw… got a nice video below for reference.

Complete resistance of working technique lol… white belt stuff. Being a horrible training partner. It was ok for me, definitely won’t help other white belts lol, by resisting that much, especially when all you are doing is trying to figure out the movements. Yes I told him…

We then rolled… I’ll be honest, I wasn’t planning on rolling, but one of our black belts invited me to roll. When a black belt ask you to roll, you roll, regardless. Our rolling session below.
