1. Box Jumps, 24 in, 4 sets, 13 reps

2. Box Jumps, 30 in, 1 set, 8 reps

3. Box Jumps, 24 in + 20 in, once with a running start…

I had to take a running start…

I will be able complete this one day on the spot lol…

I tried resting at the top…

Gonna have to try more…

Felt weird for the other jumps especially trying to do it at a fast pace…

Even swept the mat before Justin rolled in…

Technique was all about the loop chokes, reviewed, drilled, drilled with resistance, then drilled some more…

Got to class around 6:15 pm

Coach got me to run a quick warm up… standard running around, bear crawls, shrimping, & rolling etc…

Coach then reviewed a half guard transition, while your opponent is trying to pass your guard while inside your half guard. Top person with an under hook, and shoulder pressure. Bottom, shoulder punching, knee in for separation, like a z- guard, arching back to break the shoulder pressure grip then diving into a deep half or into the the dog fight position.

Diesel then ran through a variation pushing the collar instead of shoulder punching, z-guard, then diving in for the deep half, grip the posting arm, hide the other, then sweep.

Coach then discussed the opportunities opened while in half guard and using the hook of doom to transfer the balance of your opponents base while in your half guard.

Box Jumps:

Leg, calves, muscles in my feet I never knew i had were burning… Managed to pump out 6 reps of 30 in box jumps before Jiu-jitsu… Been try to work my explosive movements. Figured box jumping would improve that seeing i don’t do any other sport activities anymore. Used to love basket ball, snow boarding, soccer, tennis, and now its all just BJJ focus…

Stretched for 15 mins, then some of the boys started showing up…

Started with the standard warm up and running around…

Of course lots of shrimping, forwards and backward, among other cool stuff lol

Did some take down drills…

Then we reviewed a few loop choke variations…

Love them loop chokes…

Then some rolling…

8 min rounds, only had time to roll once…

Man am I ever sore, from the lifting and everything else…

Alex the new whit belt was giving me all he had…

Arm bars, arm bars…

Got to to LEMMA around 6pm, got volunteered amongst other peoples to be a dummy for the rug rats…

They practiced the good old fashioned  closed guard guillotine excellent work homies!

Diesel ran the class today…

Warm up was my favourite with repping out arm bar swings, 10 on each side and then the good old fashioned hip bump sweeps.

For those of you that attend my Sunday classes, you know there are about 8 or 9 other drills we run down… Oss.

Partnered with Josh the beast Daluca, yep beast. Strong like bull, moves like one too. >

Tired with all the traveling, flying, driving and super long traveling weekend festivities, from the little monkey being up, the long working day but hey…

Diesel got us to work on a few variations of an arm bar then one into a sweep.

King of the mat starting from closed guard, then rolling afterwards.

First, I got grouped with Josh, & Jesse. Physical phenoms lol… athletic smashers lol. It was fun and I got pushed around. Second, I got grouped with Philippe, & Marc. Yep pushed around lol… then it was Luke and Juno lol. Man, only Marco was my size lol.

Great rounds, and I got pushed. Sometimes rolling with bigger guys puts my technical ability to the test and reminds me that technique rules all

They are STRONGER, they are more muscular. I muscle back, I’m smaller, they win the strength and push battle I gas, & I can die.

Not smart, had to change my strategies… lol especially when a bull mounts you yep.

My knee is snore, not sure why. Before the rolling too. I suspect I banged it up while sleep rolling onto the floor or into the wall.

Been playing around with a modified baseball strangle lately from side control with stapling the arm to immobilize my opponent lately. Something like what John Veal use to do to me while up here, but working into a paper cutter. This works with bigger stronger guys, as most will just try bench pressing you as most of the pressure is applied to the neck carotid artery. Its effectiveness is so far phenomenal. I attack the other arm with my free hand to bait the opening. If they don’t take it, I can maintain side control, move to north south, attack dangling are, or status quo for the strangle.

Technique:

With dah Frenchman… he wanted to review escaping the northsouth. Definitely a few variations, mainly to me off scrambles and timing. Soo hard to escape once your opponent clamps down like a vise.

Nathan was in at 9:30 am, Fantastic… got him to run a warm up.

Daddy Day care says Brittany…lol when she got in lol…

Nathan got the guys to do a standard rolling around and stuff.

The Frenchman, Justin St Man Crusher was in as well.

Drilling: (1 min each, then switch)

  1. Arm bars’,
  2. Hip bump sweeps’,
  3. Kimuras’,
  4. Triangles’,
  5. Marcelotines’,
  6. Omaplatas’,
  7. Scissor sweeps,
  8. Spider guard switches’,
  9. Side control switches’,

Technique: (15 min)

Reviewed the rear back GI chokes with the homies, the closed guard cross collar from last week, then discussed a variation with the thumb in, while waiting for your opponent to pop their head out while attempting an escape.

Positional Drills: (50% & 75% resistance)

Everyone had an opportunity to work this with everyone, and then they alternated between being in the closed guard, defending, or attacking with only cross collars.
