Yes… there was snow this Sunday morning…

Oh well the monkey was up at 6 am. Thanks to the wife, I got to sleep in till 8 am lol. Yep, got in some coffee, walked the dog, then gym by 9 am.

We had a newer attendee. Tyler Duke, wow is this dude is big… think he’s a cop. Great stuff though, lots of potential and willingness to learn. Warm-up was standard, on 15 min. Drilling started with hip-bump sweeps, the hip-bump to kimura, the hip-bump to kimura to Omaplata’s. Then it was the pendulum sweep, then pendulum to arm-bar. Finishing with the scissor sweep, then scissor to mount x-collar choke. Great stuff… 1 min bangers. Next we reviewed the tripod sweep which moved into a chain of progressive control and attacks. Sweep, mount, side s-mount, harness, wing-choke, bow-choke, arm-bar. We’ve been working on this, piece by piece for the past few months on Sundays. The guys that show up get it… its beautiful to watch lol. We followed-up with troubleshooting issues everyone had, then 6×5 min rounds of hard rolling. Even class meant I only got to roll when Gare bear tapped himself out lol… think he was mad at me for something lol…. home boys gotta learn to be able to pace themselves lol. Oh well, here to coach. Small sacrifices for a better good. Helping BJJ grow as a whole. I get lots of rolling in during the week still, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays… most often Fridays. At least I come in at 9 am on Sundays to get conditioning in… or whatever you want to call it lol.

Nov 29/15 BJJ

Got to LEMMA around 9:00 am… yep downed a coffee, ibuprofen, taped the foot up and rowed.

My right toe and ball of my foot was sore like a mofo… a 225 lbs white belt missing a single leg and smashing his knee into your foot, wearing a hardened knee pad… great. Second time in a row within a week, greatness… what are the odds, next time, I’m pulling guard.

My 2003 black Jeep is archaic as it comes, standard, no power windows, no power locks, power steering though… oh got a car starter installed a few years ago… lets just say shifting sucked lol. Your toe and ball of your feet are very important lol… but heck!

No rest for the wicked… need to get some kind of cardio in before BJJ…

Any who, Nathan ran a 10 min warm-up, then I got the guys and gals to do a few partner drills involving the butterfly butt scoots and maintaining your hooks while your partner walked backwards. After that,  drilling consisted of 2 min sessions, each of scissor sweeps, pendulum sweeps, then the flower sweep. The advance guys had to finish with a submission. Technique mainly was the tripod, aka hook sweep… great times. They then repped it out for 2 min sessions with full on resistance twice each. After that we rolled… six 5 minute rounds. Yep lots of rolling lol…

One of the few errors i keep noticing is that everyone is trying to do the reviewing fast and hard….

Sorry its true… focus on getting the technique correct, before accelerating it… lol crawling, walking, running??
